PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balance with clear positions for operation to open and close slidable walls. SOLUTION: A weighing compartment 2 housing a weighing pan is divided from slidable walls 6, 7, and 8 which are coupled by a slidable connector body, and comprises a slide handle 10 for coupling or uncoupling either the connection of slidable walls 6, 7, and 8 to each other, or the connection of slidable walls 6, 7 to the connector body. A slide handle 10 is constituted by handle elements 11, 12 that complement each other as a pair and are connected either to slidable walls 6, 7, and 8 or to the connector body and walls 6, 7. Each of the handle elements is configured to slide the connector body that walls 6, 7, and 8 or the handle elements 11, 12 are attached to. In each pair of handle elements, the handle element 12 is configured with a recess 14, and the handle element 11 is configured to engage the recess 14 through a swiveling movement of the handle element in order to couple the pair of handle elements. A pair of handle elements in their coupled condition as the slide handle 10 has substantially the same outward contour shape and size as the handle elements 12 with the recess 14.
