PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high security with regard to a content exchange system on a network. SOLUTION: In permitting content exchange, private information on a user of each network equipment is transmitted and received in a way in which the information is exchanged between network appliances which are about to begin content exchange. Then, these network equipment transmit authentication information to one another for content exchange permission on the basis of the received private information of the other users. By the transmission and reception of the authentication information, authentication for the content exchange permission is established. That is, with identification by the private information as the condition, a system for the content exchange within a limited range is constructed. Thus, the identification of content exchangers is always made open and careless spread of the content on the network is suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
