An artificial stone flooring block is made of concrete and with a decorative outer layer and has a square outline with shaped spacers along each edge. Three spacers per side of the basic block are arranged at set spacings to enable the block to the laid in any orientation with similar blocks and with sub divisional sizes of blocks, and with rectangular blocks of modular size. The spacers have curved profiles to fit into each other and prevent slippage. The corners of the blocks are rounded to prevent chipping.
