BRUSH ASSEMBLY FOR STARTER ALLOWING FOR EASE OF ASSEMBLY

PURPOSE: A brush assembly is provided to reduce parts count and manufacturing procedures and costs, while allowing for ease of assembly of the brush assembly by forming a protrusion at the brush holder or clamp plate. CONSTITUTION: A starter comprises a housing; an armature which rotates by the power received through a brush assembly(13) and a commutator; a driving shaft for receiving a power from the armature; an overrunning clutch for transmitting the power from the driving shaft to an engine; and a lever operating by a magnet switch so as to engage the pinion of the overrunning clutch to the ring gear of the engine. The brush assembly includes an insulation plate(21) and a clamp plate(22) for coupling of the insulation plate. The clamp plate has a protrusion(22a) protruded outward from the outer surface of the clamp plate. The housing has a groove for insertion of the protrusion of the clamp plate. The rear bracket is coupled at the state where the protrusion is accommodated in the groove of the housing.
