Assembly for retaining a boot on a gliding board

The ski binding includes a jaw which is mobile between two positions - a closed retaining position and an open release position. The jaw is held in its closed position by a mobile bolt (25). A pneumatic energy source operates with an electrovalve (40) linked to a pressurised gas reservoir (42) in order to provide rapid release of the binding. The system for retaining a boot on a ski comprises a release block having at least one retaining jaw (15) which serves to anchor a part of the boot on to the ski. The jaw is mobile between two positions - a closed position in which it holds the boot in place, and an open position in which it releases the boot. The jaw is held in its closed position by a mobile bolt (25). The movement of the bolt (25) is controlled by a pneumatic energy source without any other energy supply. The pneumatic energy is delivered via an electrovalve (40) linked to a pressurised gas reservoir (42). An expansion valve may be placed at the outlet from the gas cylinder. The locking bolt (25) pivots about an axis (26) and is elastically biased towards its closure position by a spring (30).
