A method of manipulating a first data structure, comprising the operations of, compiling a dataset descriptive of said first data structure, amending said dataset so as to describe a second data structure, and operating on at least a part of a database so that it comprises said second data structure. The operation of compiling may comprise the further operations of extracting information from said first data structure, and formulating said dataset so as to describe said first data structure based on said extracted information.
