1,165,802. Rifle grenades. INDUSTRIEWERKE KARLSRUHE A.G. 18 Jan., 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 2583/67. Heading F3A. Rifle grenade comprising a warhead 2 containing a propellant charge 25, and a tail tube 3 releasably coupled to the warhead through a fracturable shank 6 of a piston 5 formed with a striker 4 for igniting a detonating cartridge 21. On launching the grenade, the gas pressure produced on ignition of a firing charge in a rifle drives the piston forwards to fracture the shank and release the tail tube, the continued displacement of the piston causing the striker to ignite the detonating cartridge and thereby the propellant charge. Part of the gases from the rifle pass through tangential nozzles formed in an end plate 15 of the tail tube and impart spin to the grenade. The combustion gases from the propellant charge impinge upon the plate 15 and facilitate separation of the warhead and the tail tube.
|
