A breast pump comprises a body member 2 which includes a breast engaging portion 4, a container 32 attached to the body member 2, valve means 28 between the body member 2 and the container 32 and, within the body member 2, a sleeve 12 sealing the interior of the body member 2 from the atmosphere. The sleeve 12 is selectively moveable from a rest condition to a displaced condition by actuating means 18 connected to the sleeve 12. The configuration or material of the sleeve 12 is such as to substantially prevent stretching of the sleeve 12 between rest and displaced conditions. The sleeve 12 may be of a concertina shape and the actuating means 18 may be a lever arm. There is also disclosed, a horn 4 for a breast pump, the horn 4 consisting of rigid material, having at least one region of soft, elastic material bonded thereto. |
