A self-propelled aircraft handler 10 for use with an undercarriage of an aircraft comprises wheel-clamping jaws 51 mounted on arms 12,13 which are higher than both the jaws 51 and a bridge 14 between the arms 12,13. The handler 10 has a U-shaped body 11. The bridge 14 links the arms 12,13 at one end, whilst a drive wheel (16,17 see fig 4) is located at the free end of each arm 12,13. At least one castor wheel 15 is located adjacent the bridge 14. The drive wheels (16,17) are preferably driven by dc electric motors 26 powered by batteries 36 stored in the arms 12,13. The motors 26 may comprise electromagnetic brake units 27. The jaws 51 can swivel to lift an aircraft wheel.
