The object of the invention is to optimize the energy balances for a Stirling engine comprising a heated cylinder head having a plurality of approximately U-shaped heater pipes and a cooler. In particular the inventio n should provide a solution by means of which the transmission of heat to the heater pipes and the performance of the cooler are improved. To that end, th e outwardly directed partial pipes (4c) of the heater pipes (4) through which the working medium flows are provided at least in given regions with a ceramic backing (11) for optimizing the flow (10) of hot gases. The cooler takes the form of a light metal body (20) around which coolant flows, which has radial ribs (23) and is disposed in a pot-like housing (21), the spacing between th e radial ribs (23) being larger than the gap (25) between the inner wall of th e pot and the outer radial rib delimiting wall.
