摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain 5-aminolevulinic acid useful as agrochemicals, etc., while reducing the amount of aminoacetone formed as a by-product by culturing a microorganism of the genus Rhodobacter capable of accumulating 5- aminolevulinic acid without accumulating the aminoacetone. CONSTITUTION:This microorganism belongs to the genus Rhodobacter, preferably Rhodobacter sphaeroides and is capable of accumulating 5-aminolevulinic acid without accumulating aminoacetone. Thereby, the 5-aminolevulinic acid is produced by culturing the microorganism belonging to the Rhodobacter sphaeroides and collecting the 5-aminolevulinic acid from the resultant culture. Furthermore, this method for producing the microorganism capable of specifically and highly accumulating the 5-aminolevulinic acid such as Rhodobacter sphaeroides CR-450 (FERM P-14085) is to carry out the mutation treatment of a microorganism which is a photosynthetic bacterium, belonging to the genus Rhodobacter and capable of accumulating the 5-aminolevulinic acid and aminoacetone and select a mutant strain capable of accumulating the 5- aminolevulinic acid without accumulating the aminoacetone.
