DEFINED COLOSTRUM NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT

The benefits of feeding colostrum are well recognized, and it is known th at immunological and non-immunological factors present in this mammary secretio n are helpful for ameliorating a variety of adverse health conditions, and in providing energy and important nutrients in animals. A defined colostrum nutritional suppleme nt and a method of making the same are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of collecting colostrum aliquots from individual female mammals; determining the concentrations in each colostrum aliquot of a selected constituent factor; mixing chosen aliquots in such proportions as to produce an aliquot pool containing a specified concentrati on of the selected constituent factor; and drying the aliquot pool to produce a dry colostrum nutritional supplement containing a desired concentration of the selected constituent factor. The nutritional supplement can be fed to improve the general health, wellbeing, vigor, skin and hair coat quality, and the immune capability of animals.
