PURPOSE: A power control apparatus is provided to reduce the pressure of the switch for turning on/off the power being supplied to the electronic devices. CONSTITUTION: A power control apparatus comprises a first rectifier unit(254) for rectifying the AC voltage being supplied from a power cord and outputting the rectified voltage; a transformer(256) including a primary coil(256a) for receiving the voltage rectified by the first rectifier unit and secondary coils(256b,256c,256d) coupled to the primary coil; a first switching unit(258) for turning on/off the current being supplied to the primary coil; a second rectifier unit for rectifying the voltage being induced to the secondary coils of the transformer and outputting the rectified voltage; a pulse width modulation unit(260) for controlling on/off operation of the first switching unit; and a power control unit(264) for outputting a signal for controlling the pulse width modulation unit in such a manner that the pulse width modulation unit turns on/off the first switching unit in accordance with the power-on signal applied from an external source.
