PURPOSE: A system and a method for managing a repeater by a portable terminal is provided to scan various information of the repeater by the portable terminal which scans a bar-code and transmit scanned information to a repeater management server through a short message. CONSTITUTION: A repeater(100) has an intrinsic bar-code. A bar-code scanner(200) scans the bar-code of the repeater(100) according to a driving signal inputted from the outside. A portable terminal(300) outputs the driving signal to the bar-code scanner(200) according to the request of a user, extracts information of the repeater(100) from the bar-code inputted from the bar-code scanner(200), and generates repeater maintenance information. The portable terminal(300) transmits generated repeater maintenance information through a call line generated by the user. A repeater management server(400) receives repeater information transmitted from the portable terminal(300).
