PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting a color are provided to correct all of hue, saturation and luminance on the basis of colors people prefer when colors displayed on a display are distorted. CONSTITUTION: A color correcting apparatus includes a saturation deviation function generator(110), a hue deviation function generator(120), a luminance deviation function generator(130), and a mapping function generator(140). The saturation deviation function generator calculates a saturation deviation on the basis of an input saturation signal and the first reference value. The hue deviation function generator calculates a hue deviation on the basis of an input hue signal and the second reference value. The luminance deviation function generator calculates a luminance deviation on the basis of an input luminance signal and the third reference value. The mapping function generator corrects the saturation signal, hue signal and luminance signal on the basis of the saturation deviation, hue deviation and luminance deviation.
