Process for manufacturing dry granulated powdered carbon black

A continuous drying process for powdered lampblack, comprises: (i) passing the lampblack through a helical granulator assembly which is formed by a helical sequence of metal quills whose maximum tip speed is 1-6 m/s; (b) allowing an average residence period for the powder of 20-600 seconds; (c) inoculating the raw incoming lampblack with 50 % preferably 5-30% granular lampblack (9); (d) pre-compressing the raw incoming lampblack to 150-300 g/l; and (e) using a dry pearl drum after the helical granulator.
