PURPOSE: An apparatus for growing a laser medium is provided to solve a thermal lens problem of a laser medium without using a diffusion doping technology that is essential to development of a high power laser source. CONSTITUTION: The laser medium of a melted state and a heat transfer material are vertically contained in a crucible(30) wherein the laser medium and the heat transfer material are separated from each other by a shield plate(40). A support material(80) supports the crucible so that the crucible can rotate and move up/down. A heater(50) maintains the crucible at a predetermined temperature necessary for a crystal growth, concentrically disposed in the outer circumference of the crucible. A seed crystal(100) contacts the material of a melted state in the crucible so as to be gradually grown according to a growth degree of the crystal through rotation. A rotatory winder supports the seed crystal to rotate and move up/down the seed crystal. The crucible, the heater and the seed crystal are sealed up by a chamber(90).
