PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescence display and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the complexity of a pixel circuit and a peripheral circuit by reducing the number of control signal. CONSTITUTION: A pixel circuit comprises of an organic EL(ElectroLuminescence)(OLED), a thin film transistor(M1), first to fourth switches(S1,S2,S3,S4), and first and second capacitors(C1,C2). The organic EL(OLED) is connected between a drain of the thin film transistor(M1) and a ground and emits light corresponding to an amount of a current applied thereto. The thin film transistor(M1) applies to the organic EL(OLED) a current corresponding to a data voltage applied through the first switch(S1). The first switch(S1) switches the data voltage being applied to a data line in response to an n-th select signal that is applied to a first scan line. The second switch(S2) applies a constant voltage to a terminal of the first capacitor(C1) in response to an (n-1)-th select signal that is applied to the first scan line. The third switch(S3) makes a diode-connection of the thin film transistor(M1) in response to the (n-1)-th select signal. The fourth switch(S4) transfers a current provided from the thin film transistor(M1) to the organic EL(OLED) in response to an n-th emission signal that is applied to a second scan line. The first capacitor(C1) couples to the second capacitor(C2) to apply a compensated data voltage to the thin film transistor(M1). The second capacitor(C2) sustains a voltage between a gate and a source of the thin film transistor(M1) during a predetermined frame time.
