PURPOSE: A cable pulling system and a control method thereof are provided to prevent damages of cable caused due to an over torque. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a cable pulling system comprises a step of setting an allowable torque for a motor for a cable pulling operation; a step of performing a cable pulling operation; a step of taking, as an input, the actual torque of the motor during the cable pulling operation, and comparing the received actual torque with the preset allowable torque; and a step of continuously performing the cable pulling operation or stopping the motor after the reverse rotation of the motor in accordance with the result of comparison.
