PURPOSE: An alkaline liquid detergent composition is provided, to improve the storage stability of an enzyme in the liquid detergent composition by using aryl boric acid in combination with formic acid and boric acid. CONSTITUTION: The alkaline liquid detergent composition comprises 1-60 wt% of a surfactant; 0.001-1.0 wt% of aryl boric acid; 0.1-20 wt% of at least one enzyme inhibitor selected from the group consisting of formic acid, boric acid and their salts; and 0.1-5.0 wt% of a protease. Preferably the surfactant is a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant or their mixture; and the aryl boric acid is represented by the formula I, wherein X is H, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of C1-C6, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, OH, a hydroxyl derivative, an amine group, a C1-C5 alkylated amine group, an amine derivative, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a thiol group, a thiol derivative, an aldehyde group, an acid, an acid salt, an ester group, a sulfonate or phosphonate; and Y is H, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of C1-C6, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, OH, a hydroxyl derivative, an amine group, a C1-C5 alkylated amine group, an amine derivative, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a thiol group, a thiol derivative, an aldehyde group, an acid, an acid salt, an ester group, a sulfonate or phosphonate. The pH of the composition is 8.5-11.0.
