摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to achieve improved accuracy of recognition of organ by using the characteristic vector of the ultrasonic image signals. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a first determination unit for determining the characteristic vector of the input ultrasonic image signal; a storage unit for storing preset ultrasonic image signals for each organ; a second determination unit for determining the characteristic vectors of the preset ultrasonic image signals for each organ; a unit for calculating an average vector and standard deviation vector of the preset ultrasonic image signals by using the characteristic vectors of the preset ultrasonic image signals for each organ; and an organ determination unit for selecting an ultrasonic image signal for a single organ corresponding to the input ultrasonic image signal from among the preset ultrasonic image signals for each organ and determining the organ of the input ultrasonic image signal on the basis of the characteristic vector of the input ultrasonic image signal and the average vector and standard deviation vector of the preset ultrasonic image signals for each organ.
