PURPOSE: A dehumidifier and an operating method thereof are provided to protect atmospheric environment to control humidity of indoor environment, properly control humidity by using a moisture-absorbent instead of a refrigerant of destroying an ozone layer, and reuse the used absorbent in the humidifier after desorbing moisture. CONSTITUTION: A dehumidifier(1) comprises an adsorbent(2) for removing moisture; adsorption filters(3-1,3-2,3-3) filled with the adsorbent; a blower for transferring air containing moisture; a dehumidifier body; and a moisture desorption unit. In the dehumidifier, the adsorption filter filled with the absorbent has a dehumidifying function. Moisture of the absorbent is easily adsorbed and desorbed. The adsorption filter is easily mounted and separated to/from the dehumidifier. Three adsorption filters are alternately replaced when the dehumidifying effect is decreased since the adsorption filters are made in a three stepped-shape. The used adsorption filter is separated from the dehumidifier and then moisture is desorbed from the adsorption filter to reuse the adsorption filter. The moisture desorption unit is disposed separately from the dehumidifier. The moisture desorption unit supplies heated dry air to the used adsorption filter and maintains a decompression state. Dry air is supplied to the adsorption filters in desorbing work by using two adsorption canisters.
