PURPOSE: A bread baking machine and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent any breakdown to the inner parts and any damage to the products due to a wrong mount of a mix bag. CONSTITUTION: The bread baking machine comprises a body(1) forming an oven chamber(10) and a parts chamber(20); a pair of kneading drums(11, 13) for having both ends of a mix bag including bread baking materials wound by rotating in forward or reverse direction, the kneading drums being positioned, in parallel with each other, at a predetermined space in the oven chamber(10); a drum driver for rotating the kneading drums(11,13) in forward or reverse direction, the drum driver being positioned in the parts chamber(10); a sensor for sensing a rotation position of any one of the pair of kneading drums(11,13); and a controller for stopping an operation of the drum driver when an error is out of a tolerance, by storing a rotation quantity according to a rotation position of the kneading drum(11,13) sensed in the rotation position sensor for a predetermined time and by comparing the stored rotation quantity and a rotation quantity according to a rotation position of the kneading drum sensed for a next rotation time.
