PURPOSE: A solid-state image sensor is provided to adjust sensitivity over a wide range without causing flicker or stripes even when an illumination source is a fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION: A brightness and illumination flicker detection section(43) detects the brightness and illumination flicker of an optical image. A control unit(42) changes a storage time step by step to be set to one of a plurality of flicker-less time in which the illumination flicker does not occur in accordance with the detected brightness and illumination flicker. The control unit(42) changes an amplification factor of a gain variable amplifier(32) according to the set value of the storage time.
