APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DECODING TURBO CODE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for decoding a turbo code are provided to enhance the decoding performance by simplifying and improving a structure of hardware. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for decoding a turbo code includes the first adder(701), the second adder(702), the third adder(704), the first multiplier(707), a calculator, and the fourth adder(705). The first adder(701) is used for calculating a log likelihood ratio by using a difference between maximum metric values obtained from input symbols. The second adder(702) is used for adding the transmission line information to the previous information. The third adder(704) is used for outputting the additional information except form the transmission line information and the previous information by using the outputs of the first and the second adders(701,702). The first multiplier(707) is used for multiplying the output of the third adder(704) by a predetermined weight. The calculator is used for calculating corrected values of the input symbols. The fourth adder(705) is used for adding the corrected values by the output of the first multiplier(707).
