Method for sensor signal acquisition (1) in which the signal, especially for an inductive rotational velocity sensor, is digitized using an analogue to digital converter (ADC). According to the invention the sensor analogue signal (1a) is filtered using a low-pass filter (2) before it is input to the ADC. The filter transfer function is chosen according to the sensor analogue signal. Independent claims are made for ; (1) an engine control unit for a motor vehicle in which the signal from a rotational velocity sensor is filtered using a low pass filter as a function of the sensor signal. (2) a computer program product for signal processing.
