<p>The invention relates to a process for producing a shaped article made up of bonded vitreous synthetic fibres comprising the production of one or more compositions of mineral melts and the fibre-forming from each melt. First, there is determined the melt viscosity and the fiber dissolution rate from each composition, at a pH ranging from 4 to 5 , and then there is determined the fiber solubility in an environment created by macropahge cells in the pulmonary liquid, and a composition is selected on the basis of said determination, said composition having a temperature of 1,400 C, a viscosity of 10 ... 70 Poise in order to produce fibres having a dissolution rate of at least 20 mm per day, measured at a pH of 4.5. The selected composition contains 32 ... 48 % of SiO2, 16 ...28 % of Al2O3, 10 ... 30 % of CaO, 2 ... 20 % of MgO, 2 ... 15% of FeO, up to 12 % of Na2O and K2O up to 6 % of TiO2 and up to 15 % of other elements. Finally, the vitreous fibres resulting from the selected composition are sustained by a binder and are consolidated in a shaped article.</p> |
