PURPOSE: A method for inspecting the edge of a liquid crystal display(LCD) panel using a line scan camera is provided to automatically inspect defects generated at the edge of the panel by using photographed images of the edge. CONSTITUTION: A predetermined reference value is inputted to a vision controller and an initial position of a line scan camera is set(S10). The vision controller generates an alignment control signal to transmit the signal to a programmable logic controller(PLC), and the PLC drives an inspection table in response to the alignment control signal to align an LCD cell moved to the inspection table(S20). The vision controller judges whether the LCD cell is correctly aligned or not by using an alignment mark formed on the cell(S30). When the cell is correctly aligned, the vision controller operates the line scan camera to photograph the edge of the cell to capture the images of the edge(S40). The vision controller judges whether the captured edge image has a defect by using the reference value(S50). When the edge images does not have any defect, the vision controller generates information representing the state of the edge of the cell(S60).
