The invention relates to a cigarette whose filter contains an additive with antimutagenic action against the cigarette smoke, characterized in that the filter: a) contains a filtering material as fibres; b) contains said additive in an amount of less than 5% by mass, with respect to the fiber weight of the filter, and c) during the smoking test of a cigarette having a similar but unventilated filter, with a tobacco rod of the CORESTA type, nr.2, without containing any additive, it exhibits a nicotine retention RN (in %) determined according to CORESTA recommended method nr.9, satisfying the following formula: RN>/=100*(1-D), wherein D=exp(A*B+C), with A=21 mm - filter length (in mm) for filter lengths</= 25 mm and A=-4 mm for filter lengths >25 mm, respectively, B=9.3*10^(-3) (1/mm) and C=-[d^(4)*delta p*K+L] with d=filter diameter (in mm), delta p=draw resistance of filter (in mm H2O), K=1.0228*10^(-6) (in 1/mm^4*mm H2O) and L=0.2334. Said filter is capable to filter mutagenically acting substances with a selectivity of at least 10% better than other smoke components, the measurement being performed according to the Ames test with strain T 98. The invention also relates to a particularly suitable process for making such filter cigarette.
|
