Compositions and methods for improved cell culture

Disclosed are methods of recombinant protein production in cell culture, particularly, such methods involve the modulation of the IGF-1 signaling pathway in cells so as to improve production characteristics. Cultured eukaryotic cells are provided, characterised in that they are genetically engineered both to comprise at least one IGF-1 signaling pathway comprising a PKB gene and to extracelluarly express a protein of interest.
