PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery unit of an inkjet printer in which ink suction mode can be altered while ensuring a constant ink suction depending on the state of a nozzle or an ink passage in a recording head. SOLUTION: A suction pump means is driven through a cam member. When normal purge is performed in suction operation, a second piston member is moved without stopping the cam member as shown on Fig. 8(a) and ink is sucked with a large suction force at a breath. When automatic maintenance is performed, the pump is rotated by 10°at a time at an interval of 50 ms, 100 ms or 200 ms as shown in Figs 8(b), (c) and (d) and ink is sucked with a relatively large suction force. When an ink cartridge is replaced, the pump is rotated by 10°at a time at an interval of 300 ms as shown on Figs 8(e) and ink is sucked gradually with a small suction force. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
