<p>1,123,640. Card readers. AMP Inc. 2 March, 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 9852/67. Heading G4M. A card C is manually inserted through a slot E and its leading edge engages spring biased levers (44), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) which pivot arms 47 inwards so as to push a pair of spring- loaded pawls (35) into slots 33, whereby, when door 4 is moved to its closed position and eccentric 38 actuates linkage 39, an array of spring contacts 27<SP>1</SP> on a carriage 20 is brought downwards and forwards on to card C to sense the perforations therein or conductive areas thereon. When door 4 is closed, a switch may be actuated to energize a solenoid looking door 4 in the closed position until a manual release button is depressed, e.g. at the end of a dispensing operation. When door 4 is opened, the pawls (35) engage the upper ends of slots 33 and a pair of lugs lift the trailing edge of card C free of shoulder 12 so that the spring biased levers (44) partially eject the card. The return movement of levers (44) pivots arms 47 outwards to release the pawls (35) from slots 33.</p> |
