<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium, and a device and a method for optical recording medium recording and reproducing, which manage a defective area in the rewritable optical recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: By adding linear replacement control (LRVC) bits to an SDL (secondary defect list) entry in order to distinguish defective block information listed in the SDL entry according to a linear replacement algorithm from defective block information listed in the SDL entry according to a skipping algorithm, the optical recording/reproducing device transmits correct information to a host. Further, when a defective block which needs a new alternative block is found in the filled-up state of a spare area, an LRC bit is set in the SDL entry together with the position information of the defective block so as to indicate the creation of a corresponding SDL entry when there is no room in the spare area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
