PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer of which shape and peak positions of absorption/emission spectrum change reversibly by being imparted with energy, etc. SOLUTION: This polymer of which shape and peak positions of absorption/emission spectrum change reversibly is expressed by a structural formula (1) (wherein, (n) is≥1 integer; R is a substituent capable of changing the bonding state of the substituent R itself or substituents R's of adjacent polymers each other, or the cohesion structure of the polymer caused by being imparted with a stimulation or change of the stimulation), and has a molecular chain of a regular spiral structure. By being stimulated with the same or different kind of energy or change of them, the density of the spiral structure changes reversibly and the shape and peak positions of the absorption/emission spectrum change reversibly.
