PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printing device wherein a user easily obtains a label having a margin desired by the user. SOLUTION: In the tape printing devices forming the label having designated lengths of margins on a front and rear sides of a character string, provided are: a squared dot pattern printing command accepting means for accepting the command to print the squared dot pattern having the pattern consisting of intersection points in cross-section paper; and a printing control means for printing the squared dot pattern over a wider area than that for the character string as well as the character string, if the squared dot pattern printing command accepting means accepts the squared dot pattern printing command when the character string printing is commanded.
