PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly close a toilet seat and a toilet seat lid even in driving the toilet seat and a toilet seat lid to be closed at the same time. SOLUTION: This automatic opening and closing device for the toilet seat and a toilet seat lid includes driving motors for respectively driving the toilet seat and a toilet seat lid to be opened and closed independently and transmission means for decelerating the power from the driving motors and transmitting the same to the toilet seat lid or the toilet seat. In driving the toilet seat and a toilet seat lid to be closed at the same time, the toilet stool lid driving motor is driven for closing to a designated angle, and only the toilet seat driving motor is driven for closing to the designated angle and more, whereby at the initial stage, the toilet seat and a toilet seat lid are driven by the toilet seat lid driving motor, and at the final stage, the toilet seat and the toilet seat lid are driven by the toilet seat driving motor, so that the toilet seat and the toilet seat lid can be closed in the substantially closely fitted state. Accordingly, it is possible to overcome the disadvantage that the toilet seat and the toilet seat lid collide with each other in the course of closing operation to generate a large sound.
