<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can shorten the time required for the whole work, can adjust the surface potential of a photoreceptor drum according to a change in the environment surrounding the photoreceptor drum, and improves the quality of an image that is formed. <P>SOLUTION: In order to adjust the potential for electrifying the photoreceptor drum 2, the potential used for electrifying the photoreceptor drum 2 is measured with a surface electrometer 3A. According to the result of the measurement of the potential, the electrifying potential is controlled by a process controller (electrification control means). Thus, the electrifying time and the potential controlling time are shortened, and time required for the overall task can also be shortened. Additionally, even in a case where a temperature, as of the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2, changes, the temperature change can be adequately coped with to be able to adjust the potential for electrifying the surface of the photoreceptor drum 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
