<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device improving light utilization efficiency and enhancing luminance of a liquid crystal panel in simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight device is equipped with a light guide plate 18, a substrate 7 arranged in the lower part of the light guide plate 18, and an LED light source 5 having at least one LED mounted on the substrate 7 and installed so that light from the LED is incident from the lower side of the light guide plate 18, the light guide plate 18 has a convex light focusing part 11 projecting to the lower surface facing the LED light source 5, the light focusing part 11 is arranged in a position corresponding to the LED light source 5, and the contour of the light focusing part 11 is set larger than the contour of the LED light source 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
