PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical fiber cable with excellent environment resistance. SOLUTION: For an optical fiber, a light guide is composed of plastic, a coating layer composed of a coating material satisfying an expression P≤1 äin this case, P is the moisture vapor permeation rate (g/(m<SP>2</SP>24hr)) of the coating material at 40°C and 90%RH} is provided on the outer periphery of the light guide, and preferably the coating layer containing metal hydroxide is provided further on the outer periphery of the coating layer.
