PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing CNT at a low temperature without using medicaments which are poisonous and difficult to deal with. SOLUTION: The method is characterized by heating a mixture of a group of metal particles and an organic ligand having hydrophobic groups in a supporting state by a ceramic carrier for carbonization of the organic ligand. According to this invention, the metal particles are protected by the organic ligand in the mixture. The hydrophobic group is extended to the diameter direction with the metal particle core in the geometric structure because the organic ligand has hydrophobic groups. It follows that the organic ligand is heated in supporting by a carrier for expression of catalyst action and carbonized, and the hydrophobic group is extended to the diameter direction with the metal particle as starting point for changing into CNT.
