PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to take good pictures of remote subjects even under dark conditions. SOLUTION: The photographing device has a digital camera provided with a transceiver section by radio and a range-finding means up to the subject and a strobe provided with a transceiver section by radio and a range-finding means up to the subject. A strobe control signal is transmitted toward the strobe cooperatively with the operation of the shutter of the digital camera and the strobe is controlled by the strobe control signal to emit light. The strobe emits the light by determining the range of its light emission angles on the basis of the comparison values of the distance between the digital camera and the subject and the distance between the strobe and the subject and the focal length of the lens of the digital camera.
