DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CONTRAST AGENT WITH PROLONGED BLOOD RETENTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contrast agent for diagnostic imaging with prolonged blood retention. SOLUTION: This imaging contrast agent for diagnostic use contains (a) an image enhancing moiety (IEM), (b) a protein plasma binding moiety (PPBM) and (c) a blood half-life extending moiety (BHEM). The agent is bonded to plasma proteins in an amount of at least about 10%. In the pharmacokinetic experiment of rat plasma, the area under the curve of plasma concentration to time (0-10 min) is larger than the area observed by the combination of IEM and PPBM and free from BHEM by at least about 20%.
