PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry cell having excellent strong-load discharge characteristics even with a negative electrode active material volume smaller than that of a prior art by substituting the center of a gel negative electrode of low reaction efficiency with a standard matter to improve the reaction efficiency of the negative electrode. SOLUTION: A standard matter is arranged at the center of the gel electrode in the alkaline dry cell provided with a cylindrical-shape positive electrode mixture filled inside a positive electrode case, the gel negative electrode filled in a hollow part of the positive electrode mixture through a separator, and a collector fitted at the center of the gel negative electrode.
