PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which can efficiently give an olefin polymer excellent in powder properties. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst is prepared from [A] a soluble transition metal compound having a metal selected from among the elements of groups 3-11 in the periodic table, [B] an activator compound which reacts with the compound [A] to form a catalytic metal complex, [C] an organoaluminum compound, [D] a siloxane compound, and optionally [E] a hydrocarbon-solvent-soluble organomagnesium compound represented by the formula: (Mt)α(Mg)β(R<SP>1</SP>)<SB>a</SB>(R<SP>2</SP>)<SB>b</SB>(OR<SP>3</SP>)<SB>c</SB>[wherein Mt is a metal atom belonging to groups 1 to 3 in the periodic table; R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, and R<SP>3</SP>are each a 2-20C hydrocarbon group; andα,β, a, b, and c are numbers satisfying the following relationships: 0≤α; 0≤β; 0≤a; 0≤b; 0≤c; a + b > 0; 0≤c/(α+β)≤2; and rα+ 2β= a + b + c (wherein r is the valence of Mt)].
