PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective cap for easily and inexpensively adding information to a key, and guaranteeing reliability of the added information. SOLUTION: This key control method comprises a stage (S5) for installing the protective cap on the key for protecting identification number ID used for identifying the key, a stage (S10) for a maker A of the key to determine the justice of the key on the basis of an identification result of the identification number ID by allowing the maker A of the key to recognize the identification number ID installed on the key being a duplication basis from an external part of of the protective cap by an infrared camera when duplication of the key is offered (S8) and a stage (S11) for the maker A of the key to duplicate the key when determining that the key is justifiable.
