HALOGENO-4-DIHYDROXYMETHYLPYRIDINE, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HALOGENO-4-PYRIDINECARBALDEHYDE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel pyridine derivative useful as an intermediate of medicines and agrochemicals, and the like. SOLUTION: A halogeno-4-dialkoxymethylpyridine represented by general formula (2) (wherein R is an alkyl group; R1, R2, R3and R4are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl group) is reacted with water in the presence of an acid and subsequently reacted with an alkali to give a halogeno-4-dihydroxymethylpyridine represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1, R2, R3and R4are each the same as above). The halogeno-4-dihydroxymethylpyridine is subjected to a dehydration reaction to give a halogeno-4-pyridinecarbaldehyde represented by general formula (3) (wherein R1, R2, R3and R4are each the same as above).
