PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car apparatus of an elevator for observation having an observation window and a hoistway capable of being cleaned on the inside but on the outside thereof to assure the safety of a worker and formed so that the hoistway can be designed to the same size as general elevators. SOLUTION: This elevator A for observation comprises the car apparatus 2 having an observation window 2a liftably provided in the hoistway 1 having peripheral walls the entire part or a part of which is opened. The observation window 2a is provided openably in the direction for pulling a rotating pivot 2x provided at a window side end into the car apparatus 2 so that the outside of the observation window 2a can be cleaned inside the car apparatus 2.
