PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bucket elevator capable of maintaining the chain tension by depressing a lower sprocket automatically when the tension of a chain set over between an upper sprocket and the lower sprocket is varied. SOLUTION: The bucket elevator of such a structure that pulverized/granular substance contained in a casing 1 is conveyed from below to above and exhausted using circulating buckets 7 installed on the chain 6 set over between the upper 4 and lower sprockets 5, is configured so that a pair of arms 14 whose bases are put in shaft coupling rotatably with the two sides of the casing 1 are directly coupled with the rotary shaft 3 of the lower sprocket 5 and a downward pressing tendency is given to the rotary shaft 3 of the lower sprocket 5 by a weight 22 installed on the arms 14 so as to give the intended tension to the chain 6.
