PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which extruding conditions in an extruding machine is simply set so that the temperature of an extruded product on the outlet side of a die in extrusion is always kept constant during the extrusion when a metallic material is extruded. SOLUTION: When a metallic billet 12 housed in a container 10 is extruded through the die 20, the billet is heated so that the temperatures in the axial and the radial directions of the metallic billet 12 just before charging it into the container are respectively within±10°C of a setting temperature. On the other hand, extrusion operation is carried out by setting billet temperature, container temperature and ram speed so that the product temperature in the extruding stage is always at constant temperature by solving a calculating formula by taking three extrusion conditions of the billet temperature, the container temperature and the ram speed as variables.
