<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplitude modulator which can reduce a number of parts and a number of production man-hour with a simple configuration without necessity for a circulator and which is superior to productivity. <P>SOLUTION: An amplitude modulator 1 comprises two pieces of conductor plates 2, 3, a first dielectric waveguide 4 and a second dielectric waveguide 5 provided between the conductor plates 2 and 3, a directional coupler 6 for coupling the dielectric waveguides 4, 5 by disposing them near each other and delivering carrier waves, a first diode 17 and a second diode 18 which are disposed respectively near a first terminal 8 formed in the dielectric waveguide 4 and a second terminal 9 formed in the dielectric waveguide 5, a first terminator 25 and a second terminator 26 connected to the first and second diodes 17, 18 respectively, and a signal source 27 for controlling a bias voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
